| April 26, 2001 | Sorry, I
wasn't able to upload the site for some strange reason. I use WS_FTP at work to upload
and when we switched to the firewall, it said it couldn't connect to the FTP anymore. I
got around it by downloading CuteFTP to
use at work. Except there is only a 30 day trial on that one. I got screwed by Telocity. They told me on the 18th that it would only be a few days, well, on the 19th, they sent a mail saying that "We can't find a last-mile carrier for you, sorry, your account is canceled, please find service elsewhere." They won't give me my free 2 months they promised, and they are cutting off my dial-up at the end of May. Those bastards!!! Check DSLReports for more, I posted a review of Telocity there. I ordered a line through EarthLink because Ameritech is limited to 11,000 ft.(so they say) ... I hope I get at least equivalent to what I had, at least a 400/400. | April 19, 2001 | I should be getting my DSL
back within the week. I called Telocity
and they said that they ordered the line downtown on April 10th and it takes up to 7 days for
that, then they send out a guy to check the house line which takes a day or 2, then I need to
get a new modem and new IP addy shipped which takes another 2 days. I finally took my car into the shop: Needed a New Speed Sensor, Crankshaft Sensor, Coolant Fan, and a new Crankshaft Gasket. Cost me 300$ which was going to my new Geforce2 GTS 64 card. Then they told me that I needed a new Trannie, so now they are putting that in for nothing. Meanwhile, I have an Oldsmobile Alero which is a pretty sweet car! communications went down and guess what ... They provided the DSLAM to about 100,000 DSL users
around the nation and I was one of them. My new line should arrive within 2 weeks, but
untill then, I've been set up with 56k access. God, I can't believe how I used to live
on that before. I will be going through Rhythms now and hope that I get the sweet 15-20
pings I used to get to some of my CS sites. The biggest pisser was, it went down sometime friday - The freakin day that Tribes 2 came out, I rushed home to play after work, and didn't have any freaking Internet Access. But what can you say!
